Inspired by one of my hidden gems,
“Summertime in Paris”
They say summertime
is meant to fall in love.
Maybe that’s why
the sunlight reminds me of you.
Not because it shines the brightest,
but because it finds its way
into every corner
without asking permission.
I wonder if you’ve noticed
how certain songs
can carry a person.
How an evening breeze
can feel like a memory.
How a sunset
can make someone
miss another soul
without saying a word.
So I wrote you a poem.
Not because I expect
it to change anything.
Not because I need
an answer.
I wrote it
because some feelings
deserve paper.
They deserve ink.
They deserve to exist
outside of my heart,
even if only for a little while.
If these words
ever find your hands,
I hope you read it
on a warm evening,
with the windows open,
the air soft,
and the world moving
a little slower than usual.
I hope, just for a moment,
you remember
that somewhere,
someone saw you
and was inspired
to create.
If summertime
is meant to fall in love,
then maybe poetry
is meant to remember it.
So I wrote you a poem.
Not because summer lasts,
but because some moments
deserve to be remembered
long after the season ends.
And before they do—
thank you.
For being
one of the most beautiful chapters
I’ve ever had the privilege
of writing.
