Today one of my associates told me something I wasn’t expecting.
He said I always keep my composure.
That I never seem stressed.
That I always have a smile on my face.
It caught me off guard—but not in a bad way.
Because when it comes to work,
I do keep it together
better than almost anywhere else.
I’ve always been someone who keeps my work life and my personal life separate.
But if you asked me to describe myself, “composed” probably wouldn’t be one of the first words I’d choose.
I’m emotional.
I feel things deeply.
I carry people’s words with me.
I replay conversations.
I notice shifts in energy.
So hearing someone describe me as calm made me realize something.
Maybe strength doesn’t always feel like strength from the inside.
Maybe sometimes we’re carrying more than people realize.
All they ever see
is the smile we choose to wear.
All we choose to show.
There’s depth beneath my surface.
I may not show it all.
But there’s an ocean within me.
It’s just a matter of
who I choose
to let see it.
